Mental needs
While your pup's mental needs are still low as he needs to
a lot of rest, his ability to learn is important. The lessons he learns from
observation are essential and must be positive. Both those from
his environment than those you teach him.
Try to teach him something every time you spend time with
your puppy. These moments must be positive and well guided. If your puppy is not well
monitored, he will put himself more in compromising situations and will be constantly
reprimanded, which is neither fun nor positive for anyone.
Your learning sessions must be short. It's exhausting to learn for a
puppy. They try to live in a human world, that means none of their
"Canine skills" are not applicable (brutal games, nibbling objects, protecting
his food…). Learn new rules while losing old habits
must be assimilated little by little.
Let your puppy rest during frequent breaks. So it will be more
concentrated during the learning sessions (which must be short). A tired puppy
is not focused on learning anything.
At his age, exploration is guided more by curiosity than instinct (eg instinct of
hunt). This should not cause repetitive problems at this stage. However, for
its safety, it is better to be planning and to watch your puppy when it explores.
Physical needs
A small walk around the block is enough for a puppy. If you walk
For too long, your puppy will sit down and refuse to continue. You will only have the
take in your arms to go home! So make short walks and
walk slowly.
Do not bring your puppy with you while you're jogging and do not wait for him
you follow a long time. Running a little on grass or a soft surface can not
do harm but avoid hard surfaces until your puppy is 1 year old. Their bones are
always develop so do not risk hurting him when growing.
For a puppy, one or two steps and a small run a day are enough for his
physical needs. Know that these are different according to the race; adjust them.
Social needs
The social life of your puppy is very important at this stage. This is probably the point on
which one must be most vigilant. It is during this period of their life that the puppies
make an idea of the world and their environment. Organize several social activities
with your puppy to meet different people, animals, environments and
objects.
When organizing meetings with your puppy, pay attention. Privilege
quality to quantity. Watch for other dogs so that your puppy is not scared.
Go to places that are not overpopulated either. Help yourself food
to make him discover new objects. More your puppy's experiences will be
positive, the more he will quickly learn good social behavior.
Too often, people tend to carry their puppy from one point to another or
reassure them as soon as there is a scary noise or rapid movement. Sometimes these
gestures are not beneficial. Your puppy must live new situations for better
learn. If you act like this, your puppy will believe that every new situation
is negative and will be scared if you are not there.
Help him when he really needs it, for example to get down or ride
steps or your car. Avoid it getting hurt, especially during growth,
but nevertheless, set a limit to the assistance you give him. Leave him a
certain freedom so that it acclimates to its environment.
Sleep needs
At this point, a puppy needs a lot of sleep. Sleep in a comfortable basket
in a quiet room allows him to recover all the energy needed to be
more cooperative and attentive to what you teach him and to have fun with you. Make
naps is good but nothing is more beneficial than sleeping a deep sleep, this
that they make the night when there is no more light.
Sleep needs are important during its growth. He can, in these
moments, sleep constantly. Do not worry, it's quite normal, your
puppy will regain all his energy in a short time!
